Exports and accounting formats

The formats Karchu writes out: CSV, Excel, QBO, OFX, QIF, and column mappings for QuickBooks, Xero, Zoho Books and Tally.

Everything Karchu extracts can leave Karchu. Exports are generated from stored rows, with the same values you see on screen.

Accounting mappings

A mapping decides the column names, the date format, and how debits and credits are signed for the target package. The mapping is applied at export time, so the same transactions can be exported to two packages without being stored twice.

Limits

  • Karchu writes files for import. It does not post entries into an accounting package on your behalf
  • QBO, OFX and QIF carry the fields those formats define, which is fewer than the CSV export
  • Exports respect workspace permissions: you can only export rows your role can read

Questions

Which accounting packages can import a Karchu export?
QuickBooks, Xero, Zoho Books and Tally each have a dedicated column mapping. Anything else can take the plain CSV or Excel file.
Are rows in review included in an export?
They are included and marked, so nothing disappears from your file without you knowing. You can also export reviewed rows only.
Does an export change my data?
No. Exporting is a read. Nothing in the workspace is altered by producing a file.
