Questions

What file types can Karchu read?
PDF (digital or scanned, up to 300 pages), PNG, JPG, JPEG, HEIC where the browser can decode it, CSV, XLS, XLSX, ODS and TXT.
Is Karchu 100% accurate?
No parser is, and we do not claim it. Karchu scores confidence at document, transaction and field level, checks statement arithmetic, and sends anything unclear to review. Extraction accuracy, categorization accuracy, OCR confidence, reconciliation success and manual correction rate are tracked so accuracy is measurable rather than asserted.
Can Karchu invent a transaction that is not in my document?
No. Values that cannot be read are stored empty and marked as needing review. Rows below the confidence threshold go to the review queue rather than being accepted.
How are duplicates handled across overlapping statements?
Statement periods are compared and rows inside the overlap are matched on date, amount, merchant, description and account. Skipped rows are listed and can be inspected.
Does my existing categorization break when rules get smarter?
No. Explicit rules always win. Learned rules come from corrections you approve, and are visible and editable like any other rule.
Can an AI assistant use Karchu on my behalf?
Yes, through the MCP server. The agent signs in as you, sees only workspaces you belong to, and can only read: list transactions, search, summarise, detect duplicates, list recurring charges, get insights, forecast cash flow and summarise a report.
What does it cost?
There is a free plan, and paid plans start at 9 dollars a month with a 30 day trial and no card required. Details are on the pricing page.
Where is document analysis available?
In the app, behind sign-in, because it operates on private financial data. The public API serves reference data only.
