Karchu reads a photographed or scanned receipt and tries to connect it to a transaction that already exists in the workspace.
What is extracted
- Extract merchant, date, subtotal, tax, tip, total, currency, payment method and line items
- Assign a category to the receipt and, where present, to individual line items
- Match a receipt to an existing transaction using amount, date proximity, merchant and account
- Report the match confidence and the signals behind it
- Leave a receipt unmatched rather than attaching it to the wrong transaction
Example match
receipt: STARBUCKS, 2026-02-14, total 12.40 USD
transaction: 2026-02-15, debit 12.40, merchant "STARBUCKS #4821"
match: 0.97 (amount exact, 1 day apart, merchant similar)Limits
- Faded thermal receipts and heavily creased photographs extract with lower field confidence
- A receipt with no matching transaction stays unmatched until the statement covering it is imported
