Reports

The reports Karchu produces from stored transactions: executive summary, category, merchant, cash flow, transaction, recurring, project and tax oriented.

Last updated 2026-09-11

Reports are built from stored transactions only. Nothing in a report is modelled or filled in: if a row is not in the workspace, it is not in the report.

Report types

  • Executive summary: income, expenses, net flow, top categories, top merchants, recurring load and unusual activity
  • Category report: spend by category over the period with period on period movement
  • Merchant report: spend by merchant, transaction counts and concentration
  • Cash flow report: money in, money out and net by month
  • Transaction report: the full row list for the period, filterable and exportable
  • Recurring expense report: every detected subscription with monthly and annual cost
  • Project report: spend grouped by project tag
  • Tax oriented expense report: deductible style grouping, labelled as an estimate

Output

  • On screen, with the transactions behind every figure reachable in one click
  • PDF, for sending to an accountant
  • CSV, for a spreadsheet

Limits

  • Consolidated multi entity reads are capped at 20,000 rows per run, and the report states when the cap was reached
  • Rows still in review are included and marked, not silently excluded
  • Tax oriented reports are estimates and are not tax advice

Questions

Can a report be used for a tax return?
The tax oriented report groups expenses in a way an accountant can work from, and it is labelled an estimate. It is not tax advice and it is not a filing.
What period can a report cover?
Any date range for which transactions exist in the workspace. Reports read only stored rows, so a period with no imported statements is empty rather than estimated.
Can reports cover several entities?
Yes, on the Business plan. A consolidated report covers the entities you are a member of, and it states when a very large range has been truncated.
