The report you need is usually the one nobody built
Most analyzers stop at a dashboard. That is fine until an accountant, a lender or a board asks for something on paper, at which point you are back in a spreadsheet stitching filters together by hand.
Karchu keeps the reports next to the data. Pick a date range, pick a report, download it. The figures come from the same categorized transactions the dashboard uses, so the report and the screen never disagree.
What each report is for
The executive summary is the one page version: income, expenses, net movement, top categories, top merchants, recurring commitments and anything unusual. It is what you send when someone asks how the quarter went.
The category and merchant reports break the same period down by where the money went. The cash flow report shows movement over time. The transaction report is the full detail, filtered how you filtered it. The recurring expense report lists every repeating charge with its annual cost. The project report groups spend by the project tag you assigned.
The tax oriented expense report groups spend into the buckets an accountant normally asks for. It is labelled as an estimate on the page and in the file, because a report generated from statements is a preparation aid and not a return.
Reconciled before it is reported
A report is only as good as the extraction behind it. Where a statement includes opening and closing balances, Karchu checks that the extracted rows reconcile before the document is treated as clean, and flags it for review when the difference is outside tolerance.
Rows that could not be read confidently are sent to review rather than quietly averaged in, so a report never rests on a number Karchu was unsure about.
Scheduling and sharing
Reports can be downloaded as PDF for circulation or as a spreadsheet for further work, and transaction level data exports to CSV or straight into QuickBooks, Xero, Zoho and Tally formats. On the Business plan, consolidated reporting covers several entities at once.
Frequently asked questions
What reports does Karchu produce?
An executive summary, plus category, merchant, cash flow, transaction, recurring expense, project and tax oriented expense reports. Each one is built from the transactions in the date range you choose and can be downloaded.
Can I use the tax report to file?
It is a starting point, not a filing. The tax oriented expense report groups your spend into the buckets an accountant usually asks for, and it is clearly marked as an estimate. Karchu does not give tax advice and the numbers should be reviewed before they go anywhere official.
What formats can I download?
Reports download as PDF for sharing and as spreadsheet files for further work. Transaction level data also exports as CSV, and accounting exports are available for QuickBooks, Xero, Zoho and Tally.
Do reports cover more than one entity?
On the Business plan, yes. Consolidated reporting covers the organizations you are a member of, so a group of companies can be read together or separately.
Are the figures reconciled?
Where a statement carries opening and closing balances, Karchu checks that the extracted transactions add up before the data reaches a report, and flags the document for review when they do not.
